Hi a fellow wants to trade me a model 99 in .300 for some work I did on his car. It is a Savage Model 99 SN# 64**72 it appears in very good condition there is no letter designation after the Model 99. It does NOT have a box mag. The stock and foregrip is checkered there is a small oval stamp on the side with the letters SP inside? ANY idea on age or value
THANK-YOU Pete....

About 1956, I'd take it in trade, less it was something over like 600 worth of work and parts. Les

Les, you been dipping into the crack pipe again? The gun is a 1952 production.

Hemidart, it's gonna be either a model EG or an R. If it's got a schnabel tipped forearm it's an EG, if it doesn't it's an R.

Now I'm gonna head back to my couch cause I've got pneumonia so don't you guys make me get up again tonight or I'll ban every last one of you.:(

THANKS for the INFO It would cost me $625 total bill owed I really do not mind paying a little premium it is in nice shape and I do not have a 99 in the herd do not want to wake the DOG so can anyone tell me what the heck a "Schnabel" is?
THANKS, Pete....

The forestock is not straight and rounded but has a pout or lip to it on the end. Kinda European eh? Not sure if I like them but would be a comfy grip.

Here's a schnable(sp) foreend off one of my 99's.This one is a takedown so your won't have the little button on it.

Actually Schnable is German for Bird's Beak. I love the schnable fore ends, amazingly enough i don't have but one rifle right now woth that style fore-end, and it is a Winchester 1895. Les
