Hi Guys

i know this is my first post but I've been a huge fan of cgn and following it for a long time. I don't know where else to go but here. So i took out my brand new tavor to the range today and when i get home my wife shows interest (for the first time in guns) to want to help out. I give her instructions on how to clean the tavor and i had to step out to run a quick errand.

Long story short she accidentally uses a 3" otis cleaning patch for a 5.56(instead of the 2" patch )in the barrel and literally lodged the otis flexible rod and cleaning patch in the barrel. I've tried everything to get it out but it wont. The thing is stuck in there. I dont know what to do. i've tried pouring oil down the barrel to try and loosen the patch but it won't. It will not budge no matter what direction i push/pull in.

Your help will be appreciated.

Wood dowel and a hammer?

Yup along those lines. I have the Otis kit. Twist the cable and remove it. Then with another inanimate rod go from muzzle to breech. Use gentle taps as you plunge up and down. It will come out. Now go hug your wife.

Cheers.

I'll give you $500 for it. ;)

Leave it plugged and tell her you've tried everything but will have to replace the rifle, then after you have the new rifle clear the old one. Maybe buy something different to "replace" it since you know you will be able to get this one cleared eventually.
May as well buy a couple cases of ammo while she's feeling bad as well.
Act very sad for a while and have her perform some "favors" for you while she feels guilty.
She won't feel bad for long so make the most of it.

No that may discourage her intrest in firearms I wound just be like "yah this can happen and this is wow we fix it so you know how to do it as well" and her to help.

Any woman that wants to shoot should be encouraged woman buy more them men, getting them intrested in firearms is a very good thing for our cause.

Nothing to add but, I am curious how you follow CGN for a long time with a May 14 join date?

Also, who gives their wife - who admittedly has no experience (but must have a PAL)- a 3K rifle to clean and leaves?

Weird story bro.

Tell her its broken for good. Get her to buy you a new replacement tavor. Then pop out the patch with a wooden dowel and mallet on the first tavor. You will now have two tavors. Now give wife the marital boot, and life will be great.
