HELP! Mystery piece

Took my Norinco apart. Took the firing pin and extractor out to clean and lube.
When I had it all back together I noticed this teeny piece laying on the table.
That is the tip of a bamboo skewer in the top of the pic for scale.
Whatever it is it does look broken/deformed/cracked.
Any hints from the guru's on here would be appreciated.

It does fit in the end of the firing pin spring and the firing pin will fit through it.
Some kind of little bushing maybe?
 
My 45 commander has something of that flavor on it's bolt face (proper name?)

Can you provide an image of the slide where the firing pin protrudes?

1. Did you buy this new, or from someone else?
2. what kind of material the thing is? looks like rubber/plastic to me from the picture.

I suspect this is an add-on recoil buffer which some people like to add. $5/piece. not really from the factory and not really required.
performance all the standard factory safety checks(grip, slide and disconnector). If everything checks out, I think that's it.

I bought it new and it is some kind of metal and less than 1/8 of an inch across.
I don't think it is off the breech face gnmontey as the FP just fits out through the hole and doesn't look like anything is missing.

Breech face looks to be intact. I thought your mystery piece might be what looks to be a firing pin bushing on my Norc.

Perhaps you have discovered a manufacturing remnant that's been floating around in your gun?

If it's metal, It isn't a buffer of any kind.

I guess I'll just have to tell my wife I need to buy another one to take apart to see what it is.:rolleyes: I wouldn't want to be unsafe right?
 
Maybe a bushing to comp for a oversize extractor hole. I know on my norc my extractor is extra loosey goosey. Wiggles in out, up and down, rotates a bit.

Hiiiissshhhhh the finish of the metal look horrible !! ...., are all Norinco like that ?

No threads just smooth. Short straight sides and then flairs out a bit on the one end.

Too small for the extractor and mine is tight.

Can't speak for anyone else but when you pay $350 for a gun and it goes bang EVERY time it doesn't matter to me what the inside machining looks like. Other than a couple of sharp corners on it the outside is actually pretty good.
I actually bought this for a project gun to clean up and "fancify" but am having way too much fun just shooting the bejesus out of it.

That is kind of what it looks like. The FP hole on the breech face is tight so I am hoping it will not effect function. The stupid thing was only a few thou thick so the channel wasn't that oversized if in fact that is what it was.

The breech face looks fouled enough!
No metal missing around the firing pin hole.
Looks like nothing I have seen in a 1911 pistol.
I currently own 18 1911s including Colts and many Norincos.

Just a wee bit on the dirty side eh? I have fired 1000 rounds of Norinco bulk ammo through it and maybe not quite as attentive to a cleaning schedule as I should be. It is a Norinco after all :)
I am pretty sure it isn't a blown primer as I have managed to collect 99.9% of the brass (outdoor range with gravel and grass and we all know they don't throw casings into a neat pile) and no primers were missing.
I am thinking it was a little bit of machining that was left over from production and I am pretty sure (I suffer from sometimers) this is the first time I have ever stripped it right down to the bare slide. Probably lucky it didn't jam the firing pin and do internal damage.
