Girlfreind would like a shotgun for hunting turkey, duck, grouse and shooting clays.

Her requirements are the following;

* Camo
* Semi Auto
* 12 gauge or 20 gauge

She is small/petite so would be looking for lightweight and something would fit a smaller person.

Looked at the remingtons, but is there anything else.

Thanks

my wife shoots a Browning BPS. it came with 3 chokes and the recoil is mild. Short travel of the forestock makes it ideal for her shorter arms.
It really is a nice gun.
look them up on line, or you could just go window shopping with her and let her try a few for size.

If it's for "hunting turkey, duck, grouse and shooting clays" you'll want a 'field gun'. The advantage is that they are lightweight, the disadvantage is that taking all that weight off increases the recoil so look into a decent recoil pad if whatever you choose doesn't have one. Remember LOP is increased with the recoil pad.

If you're thinking of going to the EE for 'slightly' used, a Browning A5 Light 12 is a great dependable semi field gun.

Most important factor you've noted is "small/petite". Look for a youth/ladies shotgun, so that it fits her. Shorter length of pull and shorter barrel to balance it. Find a 20 ga. semi for soft recoil, and she'll love it and you forever. Don't worry about camo, animals don't know what guns are.

First of all, congrats on landing a sensible girlfriend - hope you know how lucky you are!
How about a synthetic 20 gauge semi? THat way you can get camo, you can get shorter LOP (many come with or can provide a number of shorter recoil pads or spacers) and the semi action wil soak up some recoil. I don't know much about turkey hunting though - is a 20 OK for that? If not, consider the same gun in a 12 perhaps, or getting an aftermarket choke tube that will increase her killing power in the 20 gauge. Watch out for some of the models with over-molded stocks, like the Beretta Xtrema. I have one and smaller shooters don't tend to like handling the bigger stock. When thinking abotu semis though, considering all the uses you want (i.e. all the different shells that you will want it to cycle for you), be sure to research whether the model is known to handle a variety of light and heavy loads reliably. Let us know what you choose/learn. My buddy is looking for a new gun for the missus as well, so I'm curious what you get and how she likes it.

but they know what people are. camo helps bigtime.

Congrats on getting the gf into this stuff!
The same as you, my gf is small, 5'3 105.
I her off with a stoeger condor in 20 gauge (flat back so it can be used to hunt with). When her father got wind that she was into shooting he bought her a silver peigon (Were long distance and not in the same country) Knowing I had to up the anti, I bought her a yidilz in 20 gauge about a month ago. Fits perfrect but after 100 rounds you start to feel the recoil. She told me that shed like to shoot more if there was less recoil. So as of yesterday shes got a browning gold in 20 gauge comming. The thing now is, shes got more guns than I do! However its a worthwhile investment to get your girlfriend a good gun that she likes because if you find someone whos always willing to go shooting and doesnt mind you buying guns, your set! This being said she beat me at sporting clays last week....it was a long drive home.

Browning did a limited run last year of the Silver semi 20g with camo. They are great guns, and the 20g won't knock her shoulder off! She can shoot anything from 2 3/4 light target loads to 3" Mag turkey loads from that gun, and recoil won't be a factor. I think Ellwood Epps has one in stock (last time I looked at his list).

X2. If you've already looked at Remingtons there are two guns I'd suggest:

1) Beretta 391 Urika 20 gauge Youth. Shorter stock, shorter barrel, soft shooting gas-operated action. It doesn't come in camo but that can be added after.

2) Benelli M2 20 gauge. It doesn't come in a youth model but the stock with the slimmer recoil pad is reasonably short, shorter barrels are available, it comes in camo is a lighter gun. It will recoil more than the Beretta but will be lighter.

Both guns come with stock shims to adjust cast and drop.

How petite is she? If she's hovering at five feet, get her to try a junior-sized stock. To add to the bonus, they're usually a few bucks cheaper than their "adult" counterpart. :cheers:

My wife is in the same boat....same height and weight too....she was looking at a Youth version in 12 gauge, Remington, (I think)....seems she fits right into it well.

There is a really nice Browning Gold Hunter in 20gauge with 26in barrel right now on EE. The wood is nice, it looks to be new and is priced fair.

I own this exact gun and would HIGHLY recommend it. BUY IT!

The one good thing about the Yidilz, they are very light, but having said that, that would be one reason your girlfriend is getting beat up.
