Help! Need Shotgun For Girlfreind!

The missus and I are going to go let her 'try on' every shotty in the local store this weekend. I will let you know what she thinks. She has been using an old Mossy 12ga that kicks like a mule for waterfowl and tried to shoot clays in a tank top for the first time last weekend. Needless to say shes motivated to find something a bit more comfortable.

I tried to buy it, already sold! Those don't last long, they're great little guns. (I used to have one but sold it to my brother in a moment of weakness and he refuses to sell it back). So to cheer myself up I tracked down a NIB Gold Hunter Upland (straight stock) in 20g and bought it. Also picked up a Beretta 391 the same day! Christmas in May!!!
 
I realize that your criteria was for a semi, but fwiw, my wife has a youth Nova in 20, and it's a good quality gun. Comes with a 24" barrel, and is chambered in 3". The 870 comes in a 20g youth version as well, but has an 18" barrel, so while it might be good for home defense, it's not much of a field gun.
 
I am interested in the advice here, my daughter has trouble with the lenght of the actions on pump action, and semi auto shotguns. A good double in 20 guage and short barrels seems to be the best fit for her. (The semi would reduce felt recoil though) She is 113 pounds.
 
My wife has a 20 ga. IGA/Stoeger condor. It's a totally different look of gun to what you're after, though. We have not yet seen what a 20 ga. does for a turkey, the paper ballisticl look just fine - lots of pellets at great velocity and a way better choice recoil-wise for someone so small. And if you could get a 20 ga. in a semi that would sure be so much the better.

I don't think it is camo either, but 11-87s are very smooth guns in my opinion (though I have limited experience with semis), and they have come out with a new compact version for this year. I don't think it's camo, but it is black synthetic - don't know if that is desirable for her at all.

Others have completely correctly noted that length of pull is going to have to be in the 'youth' or otherwise compact range. In my experience too, longer barreled shotguns can be quite hard for smaller women to handle, and perhaps the shorter barrel of the 11-87 compact could be helpful in this regard too.

i dont have a specific recommendation but i would get a gas operated semi. probably a 12 guage and i would use light loads in the gun as this along with the semi action will keep the recoil down .make sure the gun fits her as a poor fit will increase recoil. gas action light loads good fit and not too light of a gun she will be set .
