Help Needed: Cooey Model 84 Firing Pin Question

My boss' son picked up a second-hand Cooey Model 84 16 gauge shotgun. He's noticed that the firing pin is free-floating--he was wondering if it should have a firing pin spring. Does anyone know for sure?
