Hey Nutz,

I recently aquired a 1895 Dutch Carbine from an family member.
No history known about it.

Anyways, the questions. After searching Ebay I found 2 clips for the rifle. The clips do fit in the Bottom of the magwell, but not the top (which is needed for loading). They seem a little wide for insertion.
I did get 6 rounds with the rifle which I think are 6.5.53R. 5 rounds fit loosly in the clip, is that normal??
Can someone verify that I have the right clips??

I think maybe the chamber/magazine area has been altered, so that a standard mag cannot be inserted (metal added in old mag slots/groves??). Anyone have a 1895 that can send me some pics??

Thanks in advance for any and all help.
She's a cute rifle, and does not deserve to be limited to single shot.

Well, it does look as if someone has had a go at altering the receiver. Will it accept cartridges without a clip? Maybe someone tried to get it to work without a clip.
Cases can be made from .303 British brass.

Yeah Gibbs505,
That;s basicly it.
I'm trying to find a pic of the reciever, looking down.
I think I pretty much have to grind out some extra metal, just want to make sure first.

Thanks

Oh the humanity! It's obviously been severely buggered with, but please spare it the grinder!

It's not a Steyr M95, it started out as one of several variants of M95 Dutch Mannlicher. See http://www.carbinesforcollectors.com/dutchm95.html

Should look something like mine. Mine's an Artillery Carbine, one of about 3500 made:

I'm about to head off for a few days, but will get a top-side pic of the receiver when I get back and help you know what it is an how to get it shooting again.
