I was removing the barrel from my Weatherby SA 08 the other day and a small spikey ring came out of it. tried to put it back but cant seem to find where its suppose to go. Anyone know what this part might be, came outta the fore stock as far as i can tell, and how it goes back together. I have fired it a few times without it but dont want to shoot it too many time till im sure its not gonna hurt my gun. Thanks guys.

Hmmm. Small spikey ring, you say.

Sounds like a description of a lock washer. Did you take any screws off the fore end? Before or after removing it from the gun?

The lock washer probably goes on that screw.

nope its not like that, its a ring about an inch and half across, triangular spikes looks like it goes around the gas system somewhere

There's an exploded view diagram in the owner's manual. If you don't have the owner's manual, you can get it online at:

ht tp://stevespages.com/pdf/weatherby_sa_08_semi_auto.pdf (take the space out of the "http:")

I'll bet it's part number 12.;)

Yeah it is part 12, and i think it goes in the wood of the forestock to prevent damage or abraision to the wood when the gas valve operates. seems to be working right anyway, when in doubt check the manual. Didnt even know the manual went into that much deTAIL, I LOVE THIS SHOTGUN.
