Help on a rim diameter please? Making a loading block.

Hi guys. I'm wanting to make a 577 snider loading block for a gift out of some really nice figured stock.....but I can't find the 5 rounds I have tucked away to measure

Can someone give me the hole size that would be required to fit the rim?

COTW gives the rim diameter of a 577 Snider as 0.747". 3/4" should work but may be tight.

There were of course fluctuations during a period when tolerances were a bit loose, but the dimensions I have seen range from 0.747" to 0.75".

A 13/16th or 7/8th inch spade bit should work fine.

I just measured an old Dominion Cartridge round I have and I got .744"
