Help on knives

Ron Post is another good Canadian knife maker. I have 3 of his now. They are basic in style but Ron will customize size and shape of one of his models to better suit you if like. Great edge holding ability wonderful leather sheath and very reasonable price and lead times.

Check out Grohmann Knives. A Canadian company with a long history of knife making. I own a lot of knives but the #100 large skinner is one of my favorites. Holds an edge well and is a good design.
For $140 you are purchasing a bit of Canadian tradition so would make an appropriate gift for your friend.

Good idea! A true Canadian Original.

I recently got a Helle, great woodsman knife. The Scandinavian grind lents itself to working with wood... if he's a bushcraft kinda guy.

Just came back from moose hunting on the coast in Northern manitoba, my buddy who took me put in a herculean effort hauling it out amongst other things,and want to buy him a top quality hunting knife.needs to be tough and hold a sharp edge. Don't really need the gut hook.what you recommend, thanks.

I've read great things about these knives, made in BC, and now in the latest/greatest steel;

I'm on a waiting list for one of their SKAHA II folders

The make some nice stuff.

Have one of their paring knife... Which is pretty much the same as their Bird and Trout knife, minus the sheath.

I really like Benchmade Knives, and own 3. 2 are Barrages, the other is a Bugout.
More important than brand is the steel in the knife. The Bararrages
are M390, the Bugout S30V
Other top perfoming steels are: CPMS90V [tough to sharpen, but holds edge so well]
CPM S35VN, And the ultimate right now, CPM S110V

Outdoor edge makes a few knives with replaceable blades. They work well in the field.
Many excellent choices have been shown on this thread. Matter of what one prefers. Dave.
