Is the barrel threading on springfield m1a's (same as usgi?) different from norinco m14 barrel threading? I sold my nm flashhider from my national match m1a barrel and bought a smith ent vortex used on a guys norinco m14 and it will not fit, not even close. The smith from the norinco m14 is way smaller..

Norcinco threads are metric.

Springfields are Standard and the same as USGI.

Is it an authentic SEI Vortex???? There are some knock offs out there.

I have run SEI vortex Flash Suppressors on the Chinese (the metric threads were close enough for it to thread on) and American barrels.

If it was a vortex that was threaded for an AR10 it won't work.
Smith enterprise vortexes come in 1/2 x28 , 5/8x24 , among other thread patterns.
However, a smith vortex for an M14, comes is a Direct connect version, threading onto the factory muzzle threads.
The second version for the m14(m1A) attaches with a castlenut the same way as the factory flash hider.

Then there is the 1/2x28 threaded version that used to be made by a canadian outfit. A great many of these have been fitted to "chop-mod" chinese barrel that have been reduced from 22" to 18.5", 1/2x28 thread.

Can you post some pics of yours?
