For some reason the last shell spits out of the tube and onto the ground when I try to cycle it. Took plug out, load as many as it will take and it only does this in last shell. Its a 3.5 inch express model. I have tried all three lengths of shells and same thing. Anyone have any ideas?
Thanks!

Yep, that has been happening to alot of remingtons and not just the pumps. Seems like it all started about the time they went to the plastic trigger group on the 870 express. I read somewhere that Remington made up a huge number of barrels that had this chamber defect and they didn't catch it until people started sending them back in for warranty work. Seems like everyone has been polishing the heck out of the chambers and the problem goes away.

Is a shell stop on one side binding? If one got tweaked, or debris behind it, when you removed and replaced the forend assembly, it could cause what you are describing.
I'd pull off the magazine cap, remove the spring & follower and make sure the mag is free of crud and doesn't have any dimples besides the factory ones near the end (if it has those). Also make sure that forend isn't contacting the receiver when you pull it back (making it short stroke).

That is a different issue that probably does not affect shells dropping on the ground.

~ Make sure the Forend Tube Nut is tight.

Hard to tell really with out looking at the gun but I am 90% sure the issue is with the shell latches or some call them stops.
I sent you a PM where this was discussed in detail and they do a good job going over it.
Let me know if that helps. Good Luck

Seems heavy load on the mag spring ( loaded cartridges multiple) keeps the problem from occurring. Probably slight burr on an shell stop combined with a weak ( or normal strength) fully extended magazine spring. Check your mag follower for any burrs or debris and clean the inner mag tube also. With messing around you can likely fix it. If you don't feel up to it a remington gunsmith will fix it fast.

I got same gun as you, 870 supermag express.

Sometimes when I do not push the shell far enough, it comes out, but that is likely a different issue.

I think the problem might be with timing of carrier or with elevator itself. It seems that when you try chamber the shell, carrier is already lifted, but the shell has not come out of magazine yet, so when shell comes out it is thrown on the ground. Look at carrier carefully (turn shotgun upside down) when you try to cycle last shell in.

Does the shell come out with force? If so, then it means that magazine spring probably works fine, and it might be a problem with trigger assembly (carrier is its part).

Is it a new gun or was it used before?

Please post your solution to the issue when you figure it out.
