Okay guys, I need your help in finding a Parker Hale .22-250. My Dad had one in the late 60's or 70's and said it was the best rifle he ever owned. I can remember him telling me stories of hunting trips with his old Parker Hale when I was a kid. Unfortunately, he had to sell it, in one of those lean years when money was tight. What I'd like to do is track down a Parker Hale .22-250 and buy it for him, if only for the nostalgia of it. So, if you guys have any info on where I might be able to buy one I'd greatly appreciate it! :)

You can PM me directly or respond to this post.

*Note to the Mods: If this is in the wrong place feel free to move it. I would have posted in the exchange forums, but I haven't been approve to view it yet. Thanks.

Or you could buy the 308 PH in the EE right now and have it re-barreled. - dan

That's a good suggestion, but I don't have access to the Exchange yet and I don't want to have to mess around with having it re-barreled. Although, I'll keep this in mind if I can't track down a .22-250...hell I'd even settle for a .222 or .223, just something within this caliber range. Although, ideally I'd like to get an original .22-250. :)

BTW does anyone know where I might be able to find some good pics or info on Parker Hales? I'm sorry to say that I really don't know too much about them...other than what my father has told me.

Most Parker Hales were built on commercial Mauser actions. They were not expensive guns in the day but they were of good quality. I have a PH sporter from about 1965 in 6.5 Swede. The quality of that rifle outshines most new stuff today. Most common calibres encountered in Canada in PH rifles would be .308 .30-06 and .270. Several importers flogged them through the '60's and '70's. PH also sold alot of Pattern 14 Enfields and Lee Enfield surplus rifles they sporterized. These are fairly common. Keep an eye on TRADEX's web site they quite often have PH rifles for sale. (that's where I got mine)

Thanks for the info and the tip Darryl...I just checked the Tradex site and there are 3 PH rifles for sale. Two .30-06's and a .308 I'll keep a check on the site for updates.

Well I wrote to the guys from the tradex site and they said that they haven't come across a PH 22-250...they must be rarer than I thought.

I searched the web and found a few for sale in Australia, a couple in the States, and one in Great Britain. I was reading over the sticky on importing from the States and it sounds like one heck of a hassle! Is the importation procedure the same for Australia and the UK?

"...importation procedure the same..." Yep, but with Brit or Australian export rules and enormous shipping costs. It'd be less fuss to get it from the States.
Parker Hale hasn't made rifles for eons either.

Damn! LOL...well I'll just have to keep an eye out for sale in Canada. Either that or bite the bullet and get another caliber size re-barreled. :)

Lots of PH's around, you should be able to get one in the desired calibre - just check out the gun shops etc.

I hope your right. I've narrowed down what style of Parker Hale my father's rifle was...it was a 1100. So, now that I know exactly what I'm looking for I can work on some leads. :D
