What are my options these days for a factory 10mm?
Not interested in a Glock20, doesn't fit my hand at all :(

Choices are pretty slim, but thinking about a Kimber Eclipse Custom II in 10mm.

Thoughts?

Glock 29? Sure the barrels a little sticky-outy, but you're only allowed 10rounds anyways so not sure why anyone would go with the 20. The 29 is slightly larger than the subcompact 26/27 9mm/40cal. 10mm is an awesome round, I just don't think the 1911 frame is built to hold up under that kind of punishment.

I had a G20 a couple years ago. I had to sell it right away, I just cant shoot a glock with these hands regardless of the model number. Thats why I'm looking into 1911. I've heard that 1911 chambered in 10mm rattle apart over time.

Any truth to this?

Yes there is truth to it. The delta elites held up quite well, I know a fellow in the states with one and wouldn't use anything else (for 10mm). Not sure of the round count. My1911 has held up, but then I hardly ever shoot it. I know that'll change with a glock. There's a reason so many 10mm guns have been discontinued, and I don't believe its for lack of sales.

List of (old) manufacturers here....

You might want to be on the lookout for a S&W 1006.
They come up from time to time on the EE.
Had one for a while...never had any issues with it using full 'Monty' loads.
Of course, as noted, very few people have issues, because shooting max 10MM loads is something that most of us don't do very much...for the obvious reason!
I have a G21 with an aftermarket KKM 10MM barrel...just drop it in, use some G20 mags and good to go.
You might have better luck with the G20 if it came in the SF (slim?) frame version.

10mm

Personally, I like 10mm on the 1911 frame:

With Colt releasing new Delta Elites, this is the one 10mm model I'd go with.
The 1006 is ok and built like a tank but mags for it is like finding hens teeth.

Drool......

I've tried more than a few times to buy a Delta on the EE, no luck yet :bangHead:

Put up a WTB ad in the EE and see what happens.... That's how I got my stock, blued Colt Delta 10mm below....

The stainless Delta Gold Cup I got privately from a friend who'd had it for many years, though.

Both seen here wearing Pachmayr wraparound's:

As an aside, I had Gunnar from Armco fit a .40 S&W barrel to the blued Delta to take advantage of all the "free" .40 S&W brass laying around our local ranges after the police practice. It's a "drop-in" so I can easily switch back to the 10mm barrel when I want to. The .40's feed from the 10mm mags. Best of both worlds.....

I've also had a third gen S&W 10mm before, too. A 4.25" barreled Model 1066. They are nice pistols and come up on the EE once in awhile, too.

If you would consider a used pistol you might be able to find a Dan Wesson Commander Classic Bobtail.

I wish more guns were offered in 10mm. I've always been surprised that the 10mm didn't catch on. Its a much better performer than the usual suspects.

I think it catches on with anyone who's tried it! Ammo cost is a big factor, until production numbers are way up its just too expensive for most people. Reloading is almost an absolute nesessity unless you are very well off. Popularity of the G20 is very high in the states... contrary to what some have always said about the 10mm it isn't going to disappear... especially with the g20/29 releases. And anyone who settles for the .40sw cuz its 'pretty much the same thing' has never shot hot 10mm... which is pretty good deer dropping/41magnum-type power. Unfortunately, that means nothing north of the 49th.
(the deer part anyway...)

I wish I got the 29, instead I got 20sf. My old man got the regular 20. I have small hands but my dads standard grip is more natural to me, my sf is better to him. We should trade but for some reason we haven't yet. Reloading is a neccesity. Rarely have I located factory ammo, I bought 3 boxes when I got it, then I found one more at another store, then 2 more in delta, that was it for 6 or seven months, 6 pathetic boxes of factory junk loaded to .40 cal velocity.

This come in .40 and is on my dream list. It has a thinner grip like a 1911 I believe (but I'll let owners comment on real world exp.)
