I just aquired a SS weatherby vangaurd in .257wby and need a scope to go with it $400 is my max.

My like to have options are

1.)silver duh
2.)bullet drop recticle would be nice but not a must
3.)clarity and quality of glass is the biggest thing for me

Burris Fullfield II 4.5-14x42. Nicest mid range varminter I've stuck my eye in for some time, and way more scope than the Leupold 3-9x40 VXI at approximately the same price. (check Ebay.ca) But I don't know if it comes in silver...

Personally i prefer a black scope in stainless rings on my stainless rifles, matches the black synthetic stock and looks way cool in my opinion.

Thanks so far guys I was wrong on the nikon it does not have BDC actually none of the nikon silver scopes have the BDC.

I looked on ebay and found exactly what I want but its a no name scope from A1 Optics?.....its silver, range estimating recticle, lighted recticle, fully multi coated lenses........but likely junk....and isnt buying optics from the US a pain in the ass?

This .257wby will be a whitetail gun with ranges from 30yds to 400yds so I dont know if 4.5x-14 is a good idea it will be nice for the longer shots but up close it could loose me a deer.

I was looking at the 4200 cheapest I can find is $427 from higginsons I wish they made one with the firefly recticle.

I thinking I have more choices if I were to go black but I dont know how it will look does anyone have pics of SS rifles with black scopes?...

Silver is OK, but if you sell the gun, you're stuck with a silver scope...

My Tikka T3 lite SS looks exactly like that.(i've got a Bushnell 3200 3-9x40) I like the black scope and rings on top of the stainless bases and action. the silver scope was a little too much for me.

hummm not too bad thanks for the pics!

I think I may go with a elite 3200 3-9x50mm firefly price is $299

Did you look at the link I posted? The 4200 3-9x40 for $250 is a step up from any 3200, glass and clarity is better. Great bang for your buck there...

You should be able to find the Burris for cheaper than that ;).
I've compared the Bushnell 3200 to the Burris. No comparison. Get the Burris. I'd rank the Burris up there with a Leupold VXII and the Bushnell 4200. Only at a reasonable price (I've seen them for $200 brand new). The Burris Fullfield II has 95 percent light transmission.

I originally bought one for my Ruger 10/22. But later wanted an AO scope. I liked the Burris enough to put it on my Winchester M70 Coyote. Good glass and at a reasonable price point. No complaints.

decision has been made and it is not one of the ones listed in the poll

I am the proud owner of a Bushnell elite 4200 2.5-10x40mm and its black it was a deal that you cant pass up 1/2 the price of a new one shipping included. The 2.5 will be great for closer shots and I get a bit more on top with the 10x as well as the excelent light transmission on the 4200 series glass.

I prefer a matte black scope with a stainless barrelled rifle. Too much SS looks silly.

As for the actual scope I would go with a Leupold or Burris. You should be able to get a VXII for around your price. Talk to Rick at ATRS. I order all my Leupolds from him.
