Hi there! There is 4 rifle out there that I like
But having hard time picking 1 . And here is the name of the rifle .
Ai Ax 338 lm
Sako trg 42 338 lm
Pgw c14 338 lm
Bravo 98 in 338
And for scope I think I'll go with s&b pm ii 5x25x56 pl4f

Thanks for your help .......:D

Sako TRG : The only thing more expensive than the rifle are its accessories.

I think TRG's are very overrated. If you want a purpose designed military rifle then AI all the way.

I am a huge fan of the TRG - in .308 I think it the best factory rifle out there - and so that would likely be my first choice. The PGW second followed by the AI and lastly the Barrett.

Is ai ax 338 worth the money is about 8k ?

I think they are worth the money if you keep it for a long time. Buying and selling is expensive. I have an AIAW308 and TRG338 in my locker, both are excellent in every way. Your choice of scope sounds perfect as well. You have a tough decision on your hands.

Hard to say any of the rifles mentioned are worth the money:p

One thing's for sure with the Sako and A.I. you would likely pull most of your money back out of them when it comes time to sell. Same with the Timberwolf for that matter. Customs never seem to be a good return on investment.

I have just spent 4 days at the SHOT Show in Vegas too.

Had a look at pretty much every single 338 Lapua on display.

There are 4 rifles I would buy right now, but only 1 would be available to Canada - and it is by FAR the nicest one of the 4 I like.

Here is my preference, in order:

1) Unique Alpine Ballista
2) Sako TRG-M10
3) Remington MSR
4) Barrett MRAD

Every single part on that Ballista just oozes quality. The butt spike is the best I have ever seen, the folding stock's "mechanism" is the nicest I've ever opened and closed. It really just is the nicest 338 Lapua out there in MY opinion.

Pricing has not yet been announced according to the reps at the show, but I was told there that they were looking at around $8500 in the US. I see they are being sold at $8350 locally for the OD colour.

Remington MSR and SAKO TRG-M10 not available to the civilian market for now, and Barrett MRAD not yet exportable to Canada.

There were some other nice 338 Lapua rifles too, but these were the ones that really "tickled my fancy".

I was hellbent on buying the AI AX338, but after handling it for a while, and given that almost everything nice on the rifle is an "optional add-on" I decided there were nicer options around.

The Ballista would get my money - PERIOD!!! And the Ballista uses almost all parts on the rifle when changing caliber from 308 to 300 Win to 338 lapua. Same size magazine well for all 3 calibers (just internals of magazine that differ), same bolt (just change the bolt face and extractor without even needing tools) and change the barrel. That simple.

How about the new Unique Alpine TPG-3A1 (FN Ballista) Any reviews on that ?

AX 338
All the way, also the new AE III from accuracy int look very good for the price point, I go for that instead of SAKO Trg for 308win, slap a S&B 4-16 that would be my next goal!

Might just as well buy Canadian!

Agree with the C14. Forgot to mention that too. I bought an LRT-3 from PGW, and Ross and Steve were AWESOME to say the least.

I got to spend an afternoon with Ross at the Shot Show, and he's such an awesome guy.

Will most definitely buy from them again too.

Here is a quote from the Founder of Snipers hide Frank "lowlight" Galli who is a former Marine scout sniper.

"We have PGW Timberwolf's here at Rifles Only and they totally kick ass... they have a great action, great barrels, and are really, really accurate.

It's by far the best 338LM out on the market, and we use a lot of AW rifles down here as well and the PGW is top tier. Not that the AW is by any means a slouch, but the PGW is the tip of the spear, the AW is just the blade".
