Hey,
Edit **Upon further research I think i may be chasing a unicorn**
Looking a getting a new scope:
1. Instead of $1000 Perhaps a budget of $1200 is more appropriate.
2. I am 100% on the Mil/Mil. Math makes more sense to me. Have Moa/Mil now, and think I'm ready to move on.
3. Pretty Sure FFP is what I want. Never owned one, but it seems to be easier, but I Have a concern (see below)
4. I have had illuminated scopes and have never turned them on (Seems like a gimmick to me), so I'm not paying extra for that.
5. Power: on the low end 6x or lower and at the high end 16x or better.

and as an FYI. Typically I shoot 500yards or less and at either paper and milk jugs target shooting, or coyotes hunting. I am shooting a Savage .223.

So the two questions I have:

1. Without turning this into a debate on FFP vs SFP (I am well versed on the differences). With a eye towards reticle design is there a scope out there that would provide me with ideal reticle thickness for precision shooting tight groups within the 100-500 yard range? In particular between the 10-16x range? (As an example a reticle that appeared an inch wide at 200 yards on 16x would be unacceptable)

2. What (if there is any) scopes fit w/in those constraints?

Comments from people with hands on use would be awesome,

Thanks in advance! and if anything needs clarifying just let me know!

Some suggestions:
Bushnell 6-24
Sightron 6-24
Vortex Viper PST 4-16 or 6-24
Weaver 3-15

They all have their strong points. My shooting buddy just got a Sightron from Mystic and it sure is nice to look through. I have a Weaver 3-15, because I intend to hunt with it as well and wanted the lower end magnification. All of these companies have there reticle information online, but I can tell you none will be 1" thick (at the centre) at 200m.

Sightron SIII 6-24X50 LRMOA FFP

A bit more then your listed budget but the performance is excellent both optically and mechanically.

No issues engaging smaller targets as far as you want to go at 24X.

PM or email if interested.
