Help picking an AR - Bushmaster or Colt

Amazon.com, nsr11 for 299, and they shipped it directly to me in Vancouver. Sometimes I get tired of the lgs bullcrap and I just go buy on amazon.

Its hard not to when amazon is only 50-60% of the price on some stuff...

While I have no experience with ARs, I have heard some less-than-stellar things about the Bushmasters. They are not a Norinco, but they are not a Colt either...

On the comment of the bushmaster being the most common AR in the USA... I bet is the cheapest american made AR, and you know how those yanks love their 'merican-made stuff.

Not intending to derail, but how is the quality of Windham stuff, since they tout themselves as Bushmaster in all but name?

There are lots of cheaper US made AR15's then BM.....DPMS, PSA, Black Forge just to name a few....

It's probably fairly true. So yeah, I'd stay away from that as well.

Some say Bushmaster was taken a dive in quality lately before becoming Windham Weaponry. ....but if you're lucky enough to have an older model, they're ROCK SOLID.

Just to clarify though, windham weaponry has no ties to current Bushmaster, other than the original owner started windham weaponry after selling the bushmaster rights. From the src's I've handled at lgs they are nice for the money.


Personally I would buy a Colt. Ive got an older 20" and just purchased a 16" 6920 upper and it's everything you can expect from them.

According to ATF statistics, DPMS is the second-largest manufacturer of AR-15 rifles, and I love mine.

Norinco is very popular in Canada and so is Dodge. Popularity isn't exactly the main factor that should be taken into consideration when making a decision of buying something quality. Proven record of Colt is.

Colt makes AR in 308, but S&W offer is decent as well.

IRG had 308 bushmasters for like 998.

That being said I have seen Bushys going for 549 in US now. Crazy prices. Bit considering you can get a Colt for 998 IRG. They use to be sold at CRAFM for like $3400 lol

Not .308 either. Not now anyway... I'd get an M1A before a .308 AR.

Bought the Colt for $998 based on some feedback in this thread. Any recommendations on a red dot that's not as expensive as an eotech? and magnifier setup for it? was thinking maybe the sparc II + 3x if it will work with the front sight

You know it is completely possible the the poster has experience with irons even without having an AR before. It's not like the AR is unique in having them eh.
