There’s a 686 No dash on the EE for $585 IIRC. Great price.
That is the one I'm talking about above.
Great deal.
Too bad I'm a Ruger Gp-100 afficionado.

Either Ruger or S&W in .357 would be a solid choice. I have a S&W Model 66-8 with a 4-14" barrel.
.44 Magnum or .45 Colt are both prohibitively expensive to shoot if you do not reload. Even .38 Special factory ammo is on the expensive side compared to 9mm.
If you are a cheap stake like me I will say the Alfa proj revolvers. There are made in Czech republic, they have a good reputation for making guns if you don't know. I have one in 9mm and considering what I paid for it I think its a great deal.
With a revolver you probably should look into reloading. Unlike a semi, brass lands where you aim it as you clear your cylinder, so keeping brass gets a lot easier, brass doesn't get damaged by being violently ejected, and you can load mild loads if you want that don't have to reliably cycle a semiauto action. So revolvers are a reloader's dream.
I do reload and have dies for both .357 and .44
