Help pricing an Aya 16 Gauge!

In the picture of the muzzles it looks very much like the barrels have been shortened. If so the chokes will likely be more open than the markings suggest, perhaps none. With average overall condition, modified butt and shortened barrels this gun would bring $300-350 on a good day in my area. If the bores are pitted you can knock $50-100 off that.

Barrel length appears the same as my Model 106 -
680 mm or 26.77 inches.

I just measured them with a digital caliper, and they are very close to 16.1mm and 16.3mm (within 0.05mm), same as stamped under the barrels.

Again, thanks to everyone for the input.

If you are into bird hunting you might want to keep it. I have an AYA model 106 in 16 gauge and it seems to be the one that I usually pick up when I go for a hunt with the dog. It carries nicely and I shoot it better than some of my others.

Another way for checking if barrels have been shortened - the weight of the barrel set at proof is stamped on the barrel flats - 1280 Gmos - the weight in grams.

Swedish reference site for Spanish guns, highly recommended - http://www.shotguns.se/html/spain.html

Guldman was the importer from AyA - AyA Super Prince 107 LI (ejector) 645 Swedish Krona original list price.

Interesting. Aya wrote that the original barrel length was 71cm. This on is 67.9cm. I weighed it with a few kitchen scales, albeit not that accurate, got between 1.20 -1.23kg.

Maybe Ashcroft was right?

It seems likely that the barrels have been shortened, since the difference in weight is more than I would expect for final polishing loss.

To give you a comparison, my Model 106 barrels are marked 1200 grams, and weigh 1195 grams on a digital kitchen scale.

The length of my unaltered barrels is nominally 680 mm, but actually measure 681 mm as finished.

And all of this is in the realm of the theoretical, in trying to evaluate a gun for sale.

The real test of usefulness of a gun is shown patterns on the pattern board with the cartridges you intend to shoot. I test patterns at 25 and 40 yards as realistic game shooting distances.

I think that's what I'll do next. Thanks again.

Thanks for all replies, the firearm belongs to a friend and he wasn't able to post. Just trying to gather as much info on it as we can! We will get some measurements and better pics up soon!

Thanks
