, I have, too, managed to mangle a few primers. I've pushed most of them out with either a decapper from a Lee Loader kit, or dug them out with a small screwdriver. I had never thought of "deactivating" a primer. Turns out that's a good thing, as it sounds like "deactivating" is pretty much a state of mind.
I used to reload for a 30-30 lever with a good old Lee Loader. The odd primer would blow when I was seating it.
It sure got my poor ex-wife's attention. Of course, I was reloading on the kitchen table.
My goodness, when we talk about a primer detonating, you'd think we were talking about live bazooka charges or something.
