I was hoping someone here could give me a hand. I have read the manual and have taken the MR1 apart and put it back together a few times already. For some reason, sometimes it will go back together nicely and sometimes the barrel/upper will have about an 1/8" gap that will not close between it and the back of the lower receiver. I have the hammer cocked and have tried cycling the bolt rearward. Can anyone explain why it will not go back together sometimes? I should mention that I have ensured that the bolt linkage is in the correct location each time. I'm not too sure what else to try.

Pretty hard to say without looking at it.

I had a similar problem with a rifle before, and spent ages trying to spot exactly where it was being blocked. Turned out that it wouldn't let me place the bolt back in the receiver when the safety was on.

So....things to try:
Anything that toggles (such as safety, hammer cocked etc), try various combinations and see if that leads you to the culprit.
See if you can see (or estimate by angle) exactly what it's snagging on when you try to close it.
...and if all else fails, take it apart again then try again.

Thanks for the reply. I think I figured it out last night. For some reason you need to #### the hammer then mount the upper and pull trigger to release the hammer and let it settle in. It is a little bit odd but it works. It would still be nice to hear from anyone that owns one of these rifles if there is a better process for reassembly or if I am doing something incorrectly.

make sure the there is no carbon under the oring in the front of the gas system. I made a post about it, so search option is good.

That thing literally seems to take 3 hands to reassemble......for me :yingyang: , the biggest confusion in re-assembly (I had no manual at the time) was in knowing to compress that spring in the buttstock......;)
