Hi I need a simple and easy way to reload for the older 8x57 with the .318 diameter.
I seen dies built by Huntingtons's but there quite expensive! I had heard of people pulling .323 diameter bullets off of commercially loaded cartridges and replacing them with .318's?
Also its very difficult to find factory ammunition as no one imports it, super thanks for the help!

"They say"
American 8x57 ammo(.323") is loaded so light so it will be safe to fire in .318 bores.
It's possible to do the same with reloads.
Or you can buy some RCBS 8x57 dies then call RCBS and buy the appropriate expander ,should be about .315"
and cost you 20.00.
Jacketed bullets will be hard to come by.
It's possible to swage .323" down to .318. I've never done it .

I have some original Norma .318" bullets for my 8x57jR, they can be found at some gun shows if you are lucky. Woodleigh makes some good bullets for the .318" - try Tradeex. I bought some custom bullets from Bruno Gross Bullseye Reloading Supplies Box 1798 Fairview, AB T0H 1L0.
RCBS and Redding make dies of the correct size. Or, do as Jeff270 says and load american SAAMI data low pressure loads with 170 grain RN bullets of .323". Don't do that with European CIP maximum loads for the 8x57IS. Lee bullet size dies can work to size .323 to .318. you will need to order one from Lee that is .317" - there is about a 0.001" spring back of jacketed bullets. Lube bullets first.
