Hey guys

I am switching my gun from factory DM to hinged floor plate and the floor plate is going past where it should up into the gun.

When i push it down to where it should be it pops back up. And the metal thats inbetween the bottom metal and the magazine is kinda just free floating around. What did I do wrong. Whats going on here.

Lack of feed rails on the DBM action..... The magazine is what has the feed rails on a dbm. On a bdl or adl the feed rails are machined into the action, which is what catches the follower and keeps it in place. (And, incidentally, keeps the shells in place as well....)

The detachable magazine receiver is machined differently than the one used for the internal magazine. It isn't going to work.
Install a detachable magazine system.

I mean one of the aftermarket detachable systems that fits or can be fitted to the BDL inletting in your stock.

With a DM system, the cartridges are retained in the magazine by the magazine's feedlips, not by the receiver rails. The internal magazine box/liner does not retain the cartridges, the receiver does.

I picked up a take-off M700DM stock and magazine system. To use it with my internal magazine receiver, I had to put the receiver on the mill, and open out the rails; it will no longer work with an internal ADL/BDL style magazine.

Isnt that what the feed lip metal peice of the bottom metal is for?

Not exactly, on the pic you posted there, the metal box catches fore and aft movement of the follower, as well as side to side. What catches it at the top of the stroke, as well as keeps the shells in place is rails on either side of the action.

Long story short, your action ain't gonna do, what you want it to do, in the way you want it to, period.

Confused. Are you saying use the kwik clip system, or go back to the stock one it came with

I am suggesting that you get one of the quality aftermarket systems. I expect that the Kwik Clip system would work, although I have no experience with it. There are others. PT&G, HS. Some will fit the factory BDL inlet, some will require modifications to the stock.

What make of stock is it? If there is an aluminum bedding block, alterations can be fun.

Most aftermarket magazine systems are engineered to work with the internal magazine receiver. The feed lips are close enough together that the magazine will fit inside the receiver rails. The Remington DM magazine is two position feed, and requires a wider opening. This is why the receiver is different. The single position feed magazines should work with any 700 receiver.

The HS Precision detachable magazine system is designed to fit a Remington BDL - hinged floorplate - inlet. It would be worth your while to check this one out. No need to use a milling machine to alter the aluminum bedding block.
PT&G makes one that fits factory inlets which uses AR magazines, and would work with your receiver. But I doubt your rifle is .223.

The magpul will work with your action, but you'd need to inlet the stock a little. I think someone on here has done it already.

Looking at it, the aluminum would not need to be cut. Just the stock material itself. I wonder about the kwik clip, or perhaps the bew magpul hunter
