I've read the FAQ, obtained a big screwdriver with a wrench, applied GREAT FORCE, and can't even budge the butt plate bolt. The plate bolt is getting pretty ragged by this point but is not yet stripped.

I'm tempted to just cut the stock off at this point since I won't be reusing it.

Any Qs or concerns?

Try a good creeping oil and spray the bolt from inside the receiver. Let it sit for a bit and have at er. People seem to have good luck with tire irons as a screwdriver.

Vise grips on your screwdriver shaft? Or get a piece of sheet rubber and wrap it around the screwdriver handle to get a better grip.

Penetrating oil wil also not hurt.

I had soaked it for two days in penetrating oil, and used a wrench with my screwdriver, and yet the only thing that's budged is the soft metal of the bolt head.

I have a feeling that this thing has been Loctited in place in a bad way, I'm just going to cut the stock away and be done with it.

I carefully filed down a tire iron for a snug fit in the screw and it broke loose. I made kind of a 'hollow grind' tip by filing the tip almost to size with a flat file and then using a round file on both flat sides just behind the tip. This allowed for a tight fit in the screw head and no damage to the screw's slot.
