As stated, I'm needing help. I tried removing the buffer tube (I think it's screwed in) with some vice grips/cloth to no avail and marred it a bit..thankfully I didn't crush it.

Any tips on the above? Need to get my received completely bare for cerakote, and the company doesn't do disassembly.

Thanks in advance!

Looks very similar actually, never thought of that, however, I do notice he doesn't take the actual mag tube or buffer tube off, just the springs :(

Yeah I just went through it as well, sorry - try to find another youtube vid for the SX3 maybe.....

FWIW the SX1 mag tube is red loctited in, perhaps similar in the series

Not familiar with the sx4 but the sx3 both tubes are threaded and lock tighted . the bolt release may be the same as well . on the edge of the receiver on ejection port side you will see a hole that carries through to the edge of the magazine loading port on the bottom of the gun . this hole has a pin that hold the bolt release assembly in place . the pin is held into place by a clip that is in a narrow grove on the inside of the magazine loading port . remove the clip push out the pin from the ejection port edge .cauation there are springs and spacers in this assembly that are easily lost . for better reference you can find the schematic on the Winchester site . in the support section .

I would be careful koteing the magtube to thick an application and the piston may not go over the tube . Why couldn't you just tape it off has if painting .

Ill see if the cerakoted can do that. Now having trouble getting the pin out from the buffer tube end to get the spring..its rock solid in there where on the SX3 video it seems like it just pops out...not sure what to do.

Don't know about the sx4 but some only come out in one direction. Slightly tapered
Is that possible
Cheers

From my experience with 2 maxus yes the roll pin in the end of the buffer tube can be hard to get moving . I use a hockey puck with a hole drilled through it to support the end of the tube . so I can drive the pin out with a hammer and drift punch . the puck is hard enough for good support but soft enough not to marr the tube .
