help! replacing the stock on a savage model 14 american classic

I recently purchased a savage model 14 American classic and am replacing the factory stock with one from boyds

the rifle has the detachable mag and the bolt release on the trigger guard

I removed the bolt behind the trigger guard as well as the one under the mag release but the stock does not drop free

any help on what I am doing wrong would be great

Phil; Isn't the bolt behind the trigger guard just a screw?

I think the other guard screw [bolt] is under the bolt release.

Push back the bolt release and the second action screw is there.
