Help! I've scratched my finish on my spartan.. i'm not crying over it as i bought the gun not for beauty but as a user, but it just looks ugly.. the scratch doesn't appear deep, but i'm wondering i can make it go away without having to get it refinished... i'm new to parkerizing finish so any help/advice would be nice..

If it's down to the steel, you'll have to re-park it in some form, whether the entire frame/slide, or just the spot. I've never done this, but you could try degreasing, heating the metal to about 180 degrees F, heat some parkerizing solution to 180 degrees F, and swab/pour/submerge the scratch with the parkerizing solution.

It is unlikely that it will give a perfect finish, and it will most likely take a couple applications, but it can't make it worse.

If it's not down to the metal, try rubbing grease into it. The oil/grease may make it appear more even.

The best solution is to just repark the entire part.

+1 on oil on the finish; I use Ballistol.

Otherwise, just wait for a few more scratches then get it nitrocarburized. If I ever get a DE, I'll get the park'd one and have it nitrocarburized for the ultimate in durability.

For minor scratches, as others said oil will make it less noticeable.

You can also clean the area and put some cold blue which will provide protection and look alright, which would save a full repark for the time being.

You'd be surprised, but a simple bluing pen works weell with park finishes. Just go over it once (make sure there no oil on the mark) and the single coat of bluing will match the park finish.

Meh, add a few more scratches to even it out.

Just as you fix the old scratches, I bet you're going to scratch it again right after.

Fogedaboutit ... go shooting instead.

+1 on cold blue. It works well enough for minor touch ups of Parkerizing.

Other than that, use it hard until the finish is worn off and then have it hard chromed. Hard chrome is just about the most wear/scratch resistant finish there is.

+2 on the cold blue.

Anyways Parkerizing is somewhat delicate and not all that rust resistant if it's dry or even oiled, to really make it functional as a finish you need to give it as much grease as it will absorb. Once that's done it will be a lot harder to scratch or scuff and will basically never rust.
