Hi.I am hoping someone can help me out.I have a chance to buy a 1942 all original Spreewerke P38.I am confused by the info i have found on the net. Some info said these guns had no serial #'s some say they do.this gun has a serial # of 705.The guy selling it says this gun is from the second run of mfg.First run being serial #'s 1-500 and second being 501-1000.I have pics of the gun showing the stamps and markings. If anyone out there thinks they can help and are knowledgeable on these guns please let me know.I can email you photos if you send your email. Also looking for the value. He is asking 700.00.i would rate it at 70%.Thanks very much.

This gun would have been produced in September 1942

As far as value goes, $700 is about the going rate, at 70% it might be a touch on the high side. IMHO. Another thing to look for, before buying, is the line breaks around the keeper screw on the grips. Spreewerke pistols should have 5 line breaks whereas other P38 manufacturer's will have six. Not to sure if it matters to you but I am into originality, and have been snafu'd on this before.
