Hey folks, I need some help. I let a friend borrow my rifle and I think he may have hit the sunshade on something because now I cannot unscrew the sunshade.

It is on a Nighforce NXS 5.5-22 X 56. I tried to unscew it as usual but I cannot get it to budge. Any ideas?

Do I try the trick of putting it in the freezer and hopefully I can get it to move? It works with stubborn bedding jobs...

Thanks!!

Did you try removing the sun shade with the scope out of the rings?

It may allow for a better grip and greater torque.

I have the same scope - good luck!

A couple of these would work pretty well, and shouldnt damage the scope. Just be careful because they give lots of torque.

I would try with a leather belt. but be carefull not to scratch it with the buckle.

Thanks for the ideas guys!! After looking closely at the shade, I realized that it looks as though the shade got bumped and it jumped a thread on the top side . I ended up removing the rings from the base and carefully tapped the end of the shade with a rubber mallet until I got it to re-seat into the threads. It didnt take much actually. Once I got the threads alligned again it spun off easily.

Problem solved!!
