Just purchased a new HP. I see all that lovely metal on the backstrap then looked at my well used .22 bullseye Ruger MkII and noticed all the blueing worn off. As well, I know that my sweaty mitts have caused some rust under the grip plates on it from time to time.

Anyone have any suggestions on how to preserve the finish on my HP and prevent rust build-up underneath? Grip tape? Sealant? Get used to gloves?

Any help is very appreciated.

gloves are probably a good idea... seeing that it can get pretty cold there in AB, also maybe get a nice coating of gun oil/metal treatment in between the frame and the grip panels...

Id go with sgt. Mackay!! or clean the gun well after each use try to keep it in a dry spot when your not using it.

Go see your Dr. this can be cured. Its a medical problem and can be fixed.

Sweaty hands? Unless it's excessive, some people just sweat a lot. Sometimes my hands sweat, depending on what I am doing. For some reason, touching most metals makes my hands sweat. But my leather steering wheel doesn't.
