Ok Ive decided on either these two rifles and either these two cal. after all the input and searching, give me pros and cons with both guys ( maint, parts aftermarket, etc.)

The T3 lite is a sporter while the 12FV is a heavy barrel varmit rifle. And as for the rounds, both serve different purposes as hunting cartridges so I assume you are just looking for something to hit paper with.

I would recommend the Savage 12FV in .223 for the purpose of target shooting, and the T3 Lite in .308 as a deer rifle.

The reason I choose the .223 is that it is cheaper to buy, cheaper to reload, and softer on the shoulder if you plan on firing off alot of shots.

I have a T3 Lite in .300 WSM and I've never been happier with an "off the rack" gun. I can carry it all day through tough bush and hills without batting an eye, and it drives tacks for sure.

I know not everyone likes Tikkas, but I sure love mine.

That said, I'll definitely at some point in the future own a Savage Varminter of some variation.

T3's are extremely accurate off the shelf rifles, but they are very difficult to find after market accessories for. Stocks, rare and expensive. Scope bases, same thing. I hunt with a Tikka T3 and I love it for its weight and durability, but it is only a hunting rifle. I've owned Tikka Tacticals and they are tack drivers, but expensive.

Of the two, go with the Savage. I think the Tikka is better quality, but it is too specialized for your purposes. The Savage is simply a better buy for a target/long range gun.

I just bought the 12FV in .308 and love it. A box of ammo isn't cheap, but what can I say, I love the extra power. I don't find it a problem on my shoulder at all, just a bit bigger of a pop when your staring down the scope.

I have a cheap .223 for gophers and have found real shortages of cheap .223 ammo in Calgary. With the cheap stuff in shorter and shorter supply, the premium .223 that is left on the shelf is as expensive as decent .308.

Either way, I have never read a post anywhere saying that someone had regretted buying a Savage. Great performance, considering the low cost. (My 12FV is fairly heavy, wouldn't want to have to carry it around a lot in the bush)

Expensive scope bases for the T3? Hardly. Weaver bases for $6.00 each, B square rings for $25.00 a set. Leupold Bases , $39.00 a set, Leupold rings $30.00 a set. You no have to use the Optilock system.

Savage all the way, dunno if you want to use your rifle to target shooting, but Savage has a sweet accutrigger that you will love, 26" heavy barrel and as far as I know cost less than Tic-tac

I'm not sure why, but half of the used rifles at the Calgary Gun Show seemed to be Tikka & Sako's. I wasn't looking for a bolt gun so I couldn't tell you if they were priced to sell or not.
