Hello

I have a Winchester mod 70 in 7mm remington mag of 1976 and I would like to soften the recoil. I think I have a Muzzlebreak installed but I do not know anything about the MB model to install and how to choose it.

is there a particular model for mod 70 ?. do I take it profiled or wider?

Thank you for your help

On hunting rifles I have been doing this style for many years... I prefer it over the tactical styles.

This is on a very slim barrel... ports are slightly angled forward.

really nice one.. did you ask for a gunsmith to make it or is it from a supplier ? could you take it in black ?

Do you already have an aftermarket recoil pad on it, like a Simms Limbsaver or Pachmyer Decelerator? A good aftermarket recoil pad such as these really helps and will cost a lot less than having a brake installed.

A muzzle brake on a 7 mm ? We really have become wimps. I'll just make sure I'm standing well behind you, when you shoot. :)

What ever happened to freedom of choice? Brakes are installed and used on .223's on up to big calibers. You may be big and numb from the shoulders up but not all shooters are.

Standing behind a shooter is much more preferable to standing in front... that's a given.

I’d give a good quality recoil pad a try first, I’ve been really impressed with how well Limbsaver’s tamed a couple light weight 12g shotguns I have. I’m pretty recoil insensitive for the most part but they were beating me up over the long run, now I can shoot as long as I feel and I’m not sore at the end of the day.

I second the limbsaver! Had one of those cheap savage combos in 7rem mag and boy did it kick, especially for my first rifle. I found a limbsaver at the local store and I found out I could actually shoot without dreading the next shot.

The sound has not increased it has been redirected as well as muzzle blast pressure , and for those hat have never Ford a 7mm rem mag off a bench and had the barrel whip upwards you will get the immediate scope kiss lol.

Stock fit and angle of the comb have as much to do with recoil as cartridge. Put a McMillan with decelerator on my Win 70 Classic and completely changed how the recoil feels, no brake required but the brake is cheaper:)
