I just bought an SR-22 off the EE from a fellow and it arrived today. I am looking for recommendations for scope rings and bases? The rifle is being set up for a 13 year old boy who is adult sized at 5'-10" already and 200 pounds. I noticed the comb on the stocks of these rifles is high in contrast to the picatinny rail mounting system so I am assuming from what I see trying to set my head on the gun that it is going to require fairly high mounts? My plan was to drop a Redfield Battlezone 2-7x34 Tac 22 scope on the rifle. The young fellow cant grasp irons at all even after lots of coaching but he can shoot a scope well so a scope he will get. So all that being said, how do some of you folks have your SR-22 scope mounting systems set up? Oh and I would not rule out a red dot type sight either, He shoots those quite well too.
Thanks

He might get a kick out of a TRS-25 RDS on a hi-rise mount: http://www.bushnell.com/tactical/rifle-scopes/ar-optics/trs-25-hirise

As for the scope, I'm not hugely impressed with my redfield on a Rem 597. Though I suppose it is OK for the money. Have you looked at a Bushnell AR-22 in 2-7x? http://www.bushnell.com/tactical/rifle-scopes/ar-optics/2-7x-32mm

For rings, check out amazon.ca for some cheap UTG accushot. You can prob snag a pair of medium height rings for $15. Then if you find you need high ones, you aren't out too much money. And you'll have a spare set of medium rings lying around which means you'll have to buy another scope for them. And then another rifle for that scope.

Cant agree more, trs-25! Atleast for 50yds and under. I also have a HD7 with 2x mag. Works really well also.
For a scope I have a leupold ultralight 3-9x. With rings its 8oz.

There's a Bushnell 1x28 RDS on the EE . $80 . It comes with a mount, that should work for you. It's a good Red dot,and a good deal.

TRS 25 is a great red dot for the money! The dot is perfectly sized and $120 brand new it's just a great deal!
The dot siE is small enough to use at longer ranges than 50 yards too.

As for a magnified optic mount, I use a utg riser mount on my ar22 with my vortex.
