Guys,
In a moment of weakness, I went into my favorite gun store without any specific thought in mind.
Saw the most gorgeous S&W M&P 15 with a 14.5 inch barrel. Packaged with Trijicon Reflex sight, foregrip, Sun Optic light/ laser attachment, sling for just under 2gs, tax in. Everything I ever wanted and man did it feel good in my hands!
I have always liked ARs but due to their restricted status, never seriously considered one. I'm a complete AR newb. Don't even know what DI vs. piston driven means! Don't know the difference between a Norc, Daniel Defence, S&W, Colt, SIG or Bushmaster. BUT I BOUGHT THE D*#*~< THING!! It just called to me and I could not say no. Can't explain it....
Now, other than having to explain the credit card bill next month to the wife, DID I BUY THE right kind of AR?? Is the S&W any good?. I saw some good and one bad review on Youtube where the gun blew up. What are your experiences specifically with the S&W version?? Waiting for the STATT now. Still have time to change my mind and buy the wife clothes instead if you guys tell me the Smith sucks eggs! HELP!
 
all brand name AR's are pretty much the same and almost all are just fine. SW is a big name. just enjoy it and dont worry. cheapest part of the gun you bought is the gun, the ammo and accessories are going to kill you though. it is a slippery slope once you start to personalize these guns.

Well, the gun comes pre-packaged with all the accessories. That's why it was so damn ###y! Already got a XCR and a Tavor so ammo is fine. But as CR5 says, as long as the wife doesn't kill me.... I have no idea what possessed me to buy another .223 rifle!!

PS Does anybody actually own a S&W AR and can give me input on their experience with one?
