HELP! WINCHESTER 2400 SHOT GUN - Placement of Carrier Support Spring

Model 2400, 1400 - Semi-Auto Shotgun.

Where does the Carrier Support Spring get installed in the trigger group? I have already looked at the schematic and spent many hours analyzing where it might be placed. it is the flat spring steel C shaped -clip type spring with a lip on the one end. Anyone's help will be extremely appreciated!!!

I don't have one here to compare but if memory serves, it goes right under the carrier dog and is captured by the right side plate. You'll have to experiment to determine whether the "C" goes forward or back.

With the trigger group disassembled from the receiver, you will see, on each side, the slide supports which present as plates that hold the whole thing together.
The carrier, or lifter, is an assembly containing the long tongue that actually raises the cartridge and another piece at the rear of it that pivots upward and is the part that engages the slide arm bridge to actuate the carrier. That piece is the carrier dog.
With the carrier assembly in place and the slide support plate off or swiveled out of the way, you can slip the spring under the bottom of the carrier dog. I think the open part of the "C" points forward with the lip on the spring hooked under the bottom of the carrier dog but, as I said, I'm not positive.
Swivel the slide support plate back in place, install the left plate and you should be good to go.
I think the purpose of the spring is to ensure positive engagement of the carrier dog with the cocking handle bridge.
