The square with the diagonal line through it indicates arsenal refurbishment. The r after 1944 is what Russians put after all years which is derived from the word "God" but is not religious. The square with the vertical line through it on the receiver is the refurbishment marking.
Does anyone know the difference between the square refurb marks and the 'crossed hammers'?
