I have a Savage 114 in 30-06 and it turns out the action is a bit longer than a normal 30-06 action. I'm looking for a quick release setup and I'm leaning towards Leupolds QRW setup but the bases are giving me second thoughts. Since the action is a bit longer than normal I don't think I can mount the rings directly over the screw holes and still fit the rings within a 6 inch scope tube length and have some adjustment for eye relief so I need an extended base that will let me mount my front ring behind the 2 screw holes.

I believe I need the Leupold 49833 bases but when searching I see 2 styles with this part number, one has the correct layout and the other doesn't so I'm weary of just ordering them without someone else's input.

This page seems to have the style I need
https://www.outdoorgearbarn.com/p-4925-leu-49833-qrw-2-base-110.aspx

And this style isn't
http://images2.opticsplanet.com/755-405-ffffff/opplanet-leupold-quick-release-weaver-style-2-piece-base-gloss-black-49833.jpg

I am guessing that the stores that show the style I need are just using generic images for the bases and the link showing the actual bases in Leupold packaging are the real bases which won't work for me unless I get a scope with a longer tube.

If that's the case, any suggestions on another set of bases that will work with QRW rings on a savage long action? I want steel bases and would prefer standard weaver style instead of picatinny.
So far I've only seen Burris XTB http://www.burristactical.com/xtrrings.html but those are picatinny style.

Any input or suggestions would be much appreciated.

Thanks

Even with the bases you are talking about you will likely not be satisfied with the eye relief adjustment you will get.

Savage long actions are retarded in this respect and honestly a 1 piece base is gonna be the best option if you are using standard rings.

If you want to use a 2 piece base extension rings are necessary, and I don't believe they make them with a quick release option.

Get a one piece weaver or picatinny base, then you can still use quick release rings and have more mounting positions. Keep in mind weaver rings will fit on a weaver or picatinny base, so really it doesn't matter which base if you are using weaver rings.

Thanks guys. Well after a bit of searching it looks like Warne has the bases I need. There is a M904 that moves the slot .554 inches back and they also have a M905 that moves the slot .854 inches back. There is a set M904902M that seems to sell for around $25 (http://kinneysshootingsupply.com/warne-m904902m-mount-black-p-1332.html. If I can just get an extension base that puts the savage rings where most long action rings go (like on a M700) I would be happy.

Warne also has a 1 piece picatinny steel base M667M (http://www.amazon.com/Warne-1-Piece-Savage-Acutrigger-Action/dp/B0003NT8EI but they are usually around $100 US.

Do any site sponsors carry Warne products?
Are there any other steel 1 piece bases that fit Savage long actions? I've found aluminum ones but not many steel.
Finally, if I am going with Warne bases would I be better off getting the Warne QR rings instead of Leupold QRW? Theoretically Weaver bases should all be the same so it shouldn't matter but my gut is telling me I should try to stick with the same manufacturer if possible.
