A friend has asked me to try and find out what's wrong with his Beretta S56E.
It is the double trigger model. The gun appears well used but still quite serviceable.
The problem: Frequent FTF, light strikes. Always on the second shot, back trigger, top barrel.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks
Bill

By your description, I’d say the cocking lever spring is at fault.
Usually broken by not being lined up properly during reassembly when the pivot pin is tapped back in. It is wise to use a slave pin during reassembly to mitigate this.

If the springs don’t return the cocking levers, you will get misfires.

Edited to add, you may be able to find these at Numrich Gun Parts, otherwise you might be able to make your own replacement.

THANKS Very much. I'll check it out.

With the action cocked push the Firing Pin to the rear. Does the FP move to the rear when pushed? If yes then replace the spring that moves the FP to the rear.

Check the FP for burrs or other damage. Damage usually occurs when the FP strikes it's retaining pin.

Wondering how you made out ?
I’ve got my dads 56e works like a charm but it needs a new set of wood really bad
Both the forearm and buttstock have cracks. Don’t want to spend thousands on a new custom stock for it. Great gun though and tons of memories of my dad using it. Guessing he bought it new in around 68’ give or take
