Hey yall this might be a newb question but I do no know. Are all chokes interchangable in any bore? I just bought a laurora super game o/u and one of the full chokes wasn't fitting right. They are extended chokes and you can hand tighten them in. But the one is a little bit tougher to get out so I want to replace it. Also should the chokes be super tight or hand tight plus a little bit more? Thanks

I am no expert but different brands go with different brands. For example I had an 870 and those chokes will not fit in my Winchester SXP.

You want them decently tight. Too loose and I have actually had them unscrew a bit out of muzzle. If you were oblivious then they could fall out. Don't over tighten them. If you have that fancy choke wrench don't put all your strength into it because like any screw on anything you don't want to over do it because you can wreck the threads. Carbon will also build up under the choke so if it is super tight and then carbon gets in there it just makes life hard.

I use a quarter to remove and tighten chocks because its super cheap and I just tighten them as much as possible because you can barely get leverage on a quarter.

If you go on the Carlson choke website, there is an interchange guide to help you determine type of choke for each manufacturer. Also if you are in Canada and want to order a choke. Al's Corner Store in Ontario. Easy website to use, always good to deal with.

If your question is (because it's vague) - "should the chokes that came with your O/U, direct from the factory and included with the rifle, fit both the upper and lower barrels"? Then the answer is yes. They may require a touch of grease/choke lube (personally I put on a dab of anti-seize), but they should fit both barrels without issue - and finger tight, on extended chokes, without really reefing on it is all you need.

Now, if your question is instead "will a 12 gauge choke fit ANY 12 gauge"? then the answer is no. There are a few different "choke systems" out there - Rem Choke, WinChoke (same as Browning Invector), Browning Invector Plus - just to name the first three I can think of are ALL DIFFERENT - one will not fit the other - some have threads at the bottom of the choke, some at the top etc

So the treads are all different. Thanks. If I have to reef in it, does thatean the choke is done or it might be the barrel?

Thanks it says the laurona uses carsons American.

You shouldn't have to "reef" on it to get it threaded on. However, check the threads inside the barrel, as well as around the choke. There may be some residue in the threads that is preventing it from screwing in properly. Or it could be a badly threaded choke.

Here's a link to choke tube interchangeability ht tps://trulockchokes.com/choke_interchange_list.html Before you look for new tubes is there just the one tube that is difficult to install in both barrels or is it one barrel that is difficult to install all the choke tubes? Either way as has been mentioned clean of the threads of both the barrel and the tube with a stiff brush and some good cleaner then lubricate the tube with some gun grease or better yet anti-seize compound and try again. Tubes can get damaged but it is quite rare.
