hello

so I got a eotech 552, and after some testing, found that i have no idea how to actually use the thing...

it is mounted with a barrel mount in the front of a cz858

I can turn it on, and see the dot and circle, but the issue is it moves in relation to where my eyes is... i've only really used irons before, so I was wondering just how exactly does it work? I mean, if I move my head a bit, the "center" moves so everytime when I shoot, it is a crap shot where it ends up...

do i need a scout mount so that it is closer to my face or?

does it go out of focus when it is not centered or?

right now i cant hit anything with it at all, and would like some expert help on it, at 50 yards, I cant at times hit the paper with it, and other times gets bullseye every other shot because where my face is I'd hazard a guess, I can keep the guy aimed with the center on the paper but at times it is just completely off

thanks.

i have no problems with the center 1 MOA dot. wherever your dot is, it should hit. you may notice your head moving, but the dot doesn't move from POI, that i have seen.

ok could it be the way it is mounted?

what is the distance it should be from my eyes?

it is mounted on a barrel mount as at the time when i got it there was no scout mount avaible and it looked to be okay....

also, i close one eye when i shoot (as you have to for irons) is that bad for this thing?

Both eye's open. 1 on the target the other on the holo sight image. Made for moving targets and yes it is supposed to me when you shift your head hence how they adjust for stuff like mud, snow and other issues you may occur with this optic deviece.

It should not matter on your head position when you shoot, I have used EO tech a lot (only on a M4/C8) and usually position my eyes over the iron sights when I shoot.

There is a trade off on mounting it forward vs back on the upper receiver on accuracy vs speed on sight picture but should not effect the function of the optic.

A couple problems I can think of would be the mount (I have never used the one you have), if there is some play in the mount then recoil etc. could throw it off.

Also when mounting there is a bit of play in the picatinny rail so push the optic fully forward then tighten it. Always use the alan key and not the quick connect, the quick screw tends to back off on its own.

The original zero could be wrong, I zero with the irons have a friend adjust the EOtech while I am in the prone and have never had an issue. In fact I find the iron sights are more likely to move then the EOtech.

The last thing I can think of and I hope I am wrong; you have a counterfeit Eotech. The company has released an alert http://www.eotech-inc.com/counterfeit_notice.php

This was the first thing I thought as well.
Real eotechs are supposed to be parallax free. Where did you buy it? I'd check for the following:

From the eotech website:

L-3 EOTech has become aware of several counterfeit offerings of the HWS and magnifier product line. Produced in China and Korea, and distributed throughout the US, these counterfeit products are red-dot sights built to look exactly like a Holographic Weapon Sight on the outside. Often, the appearance between the genuine EOTech products and the counterfeits is nearly indiscernible, including replications of registered trademarks.
These counterfeit items are often marketed towards recreational Air-soft use and WILL NOT:
-Withstand recoil or shock consistent with small to medium weaponry
-Consistently hold or maintain battle zero
-Withstand drop tests or excessive shock
-Offer any waterproof protection
-Offer the advantages provided by true holographic technology
-Offer dependable, reliable performance for any military, LE or competitive real weapon application
To assist in identifying a counterfeit product, you should look for the following:
Uncommon batteries. The Counterfeit products often, but not always require several small hearing aid style batteries
-A product that offers interchangeable Red and Green reticle colors
-Highly reflective optics
-Visible LED light position inside the sight cavity
-The NV push button switches the LED to a different color instead of to a night vision mode
-Lack of EOTech manufacturing and serial number sticker

L3 EOTech trademarks, patents, and many of the product designs are protected by registration. L3 EOTech is dedicated to protecting the company, products and customers and will use all available and appropriate legal means, against any other persons found to be dealing in counterfeits of our goods.
