Hey CGN. Looking for some help on a Finnish VKT M91 I recently acquired. Rifle is in outstanding shape and the bore is mint. There are a few markings on it that I have never seen on a Finnish or Russian M91 before. These are on the bolt and thre receiver of the rifle. It appears to be a German Eagle over an "N". I have attached some photos of it, could anyone explain why they are there? or what they mean?

While some mosins were captured by the germans and austrians and were later bought by the finns, yours are modern commercial proof marks. Your gun was in Germany where proofing of guns you intend to shoot rather than just collect is required.

Too fuzzy to see, but there may be a year there for when the proofs were applied. I also see a Belgian proof on the barrel... This thing travelled a lot :)

Pdf on proofmarks. As mentioned these are commercial ones, which commonly get applied in Europe now.
