Yestrday tried using my super-duper Precision Foster Bump Neck sizing die

and broke the decapping pin on a first try......... (have replacement)

What the hell happened I'm not sure, but as far as I remember the pin looked a bit off-center, (brand new die set)

Plus I've heard most people suggesting to remove the decapping pin assembly from the die.

anyone using the same dies, and can help out?

decapping pins, are they universal???

Should I just purchase Universal Decapping Die?

Don't have those dies, but can tell you that decapping pins are not universal. Some have been known to bind in the holes of some brass. You should be able to check this easy enough.

If you are using Lapua brass it may be that the flash hole is smaller than the decapping rod. Redding Comp dies have the correct size pin to accommodate Lapua size flash holes.

As Kombayotch said, this is easy to check by inserting the rod itself into an unprimed/deprimed case and checking that it easily fits in the flash hole.

I forget the dimensions of the Lapua flash holes versus a standard hole but their is a significant enough difference to not allow a standard pin to go through. I believe this info is on the 6BR website.

If this is the case, I would contact Forster and get them to send you a couple of the right size pins.

Great to know, as some of the brass is Lapua, I will test it tonight :)

I got tons of help yesterday from Roberti11 over the phone in regards to setting up the dies and using them
