I recently acquired a cg63 with which I can only assume to be Hauges Halsikte diopter sights as that is what it says on top of the rear aperture. I'm trying to figure out the operation of the sight before I first test the rifle out (something I am dying to do). I quickly figured I had no idea how to properly adjust the knobs (even what the knob functions were). In looking over the internet I couldn't find much of any info on the operation of this particular sight. So I turn to the knowledgeable members here for info on how to properly adjust this aperture sight properly, ie: what the dials do, how to adjust them, directions to turn them, how much range of rotation should there be in each dial, are the screws on the dials to loosen before you adjust and then tighten the screws to hold your new adjustment etc. I also think I read that this diopter could fairly easily be taken off (for transport/storage) and then reattached without loosing your previous zero, any truth to this?
Please help an eager shooter

I've got what sounds like the same sight on a CG80. I haven't had a chance to shoot the rifle yet, but I've played with it a bit, including the rear sight. The screws on the dials are to zero out the dials, you can take the screws out, turn the cover on the dial, then put the screw back in so that the marks line up where you want them. Just like zeroing the turrets on a target scope. The adjustments should have ball detents in them, so nothing should need to be snugged up after adjusting. I can't remember which way to turn the adjustments off hand, but I'll have a look tomorrow. A previous owner scratched the adjustment directions into the sight.

Here's a couple pictures of mine. The first one is windage adjustment, H is right and V is left.

This is the elevation adjustment. U is up and N is down.

On mine there are 12 detent positions for each adjustment. The knobs have 4 holes, while the adjuster screw has 3, so the knobs can be zeroed to each of the 12 positions once sighted in. For removing the sight or making coarse adjustments quickly, you can pull out a bit on the flat spring steel piece just in front of the knob. This will disengage the elevation adjustment and you can slide the sight up and off the rifle. On mine, a previous owner had defeated this by adding a piece of wire that stops the threaded piece from coming away from the adjuster screw, but I ditched that. Hope this helps a bit.
