My apologies if I have posted this in the wrong area as it is my first post here. After scouring around I was not able to locate anything that could help me with what I need. I was hoping that I could tap the resources of members here.

I have been given a handgun from a friend who's father has passed away, we are currently in the process of completing the paperwork and what have you. I know nothing about this handgun as it is quite old looking. A quick google search presents me with a wiki article for what seems to be a "FN Model 1910" made by "Fabrique Nationale of Belgium" and judging by the stamp on the firearm chambered for 7.65x17mm. Know I'm fairly new to the community and to be honest can't find much on this particular hand gun, I'm curious more so from a collectors view if this particular hand gun has any interesting history as well as what the range of the value of this hand gun might be.

I know I can read wikis and what not but I find we are too quick to jump to google, I was hoping that someone might be able to share some knowledge with me !

Any help is appreciated !

Thanks

By no means am I an expert and hopefully a few others will chime in. I'll pass along what I believe to be correct:

Here in Canada that handgun will most likely be registered as Prohibited; as in most Canadians are Prohibited for owning that handgun.

In short, this means that only a select-few Canadians will ever be able to purchase that pistol from you (another term you can search is "grandfather clause.")
The market is very tiny and getting smaller... the master-plan of course is for all "Prohibited" owners to die-off thus finally ridding these evil-guns from Canada once and for all. So yeah, not much market here unfortunately due to our crappy gun laws.

In the US (where no silly "prohibited" laws exist) an excellent condition FN Model 1910 can go for $500 with Original Box and Manual, etc; $300 if it's just the gun (in excellent condition.)
So, expect to get a lot less than that here in Canada if someone would even entertain taking it off your hands.

Pictures help.
I have no idea what's involved in exporting a firearm to the US, but you'd have better luck there if it was even an option.

Cheers~

Oh yeah... the ammunition, 7.65x17mm = .32 ACP

FN 1910 in .32 ACP? Yes you could say that model has some history. An FN M1910, serial number 19074, chambered in .32 ACP[1][2][3] (the others were 19075, 19120 and 19126 purchased for the Black Hand members) was the handgun used by Gavrilo Princip to assassinate Archduke Franz Ferdinand of Austria in Sarajevo on June 28, 1914, precipitating the First World War.[4] -From Wikipedia

This firearm has a prohibited status. I hope you have an RPAL with a 12.6 designation. Otherwise you will not be allowed to keep this. Sadly, it will be confiscated and destroyed. Your best bet if you don't have a 12.6 is to sell it to someone who does have it. At least then it won't be destroyed.

Due to the fact that there is a limited market for prohibited firearms the value isn't very high. I have seen these sell for less than $200.
