I have two sets of Leupold standard rings and bases. Both rear bases have the same problem. When I install the ring and tighten up the windage screws the ring ends up sitting on an angle pointing to the left. When I twist in the front ring the scope will not line up in the rings.

Use a solid bar to install both rings at once, then remove the top half of the rings a set the scope in place.

You could try LODI'S suggestion, might work. I have had this issue with Leupold standard bases as well I solved it by taking off the standard bases which are windage adjustable at the rear and putting them in the garbage. Problem seems to be the windage adjustment screws at times don't seat properly in the groves and it results in the ring being cast off centre. I've had some sets work fine and others useless junk. If you use the Leupold Duel Dovetail bases with out the windage adjustment feature you will not have this issue. Of course you won't have any windage adjustment if the holes drilled in your receiver are out of alignment either. You take your chances sometimes.!

I have switched all my standard bases over to the nonadustable Duel Dovetail type. No more ring alignment issues and two less screws to worry about coming loose. My way of looking at it anyways.

Garbage is a viable option. Assumeing that both sets of rings are exactly the same you can salvage a bit by useing the two front rings as a set of DDs and throwing away the rears.

Life is too short and mounts are too cheap to start out with a potential problem stareing you in the face. There are many better set-ups includeing 3 by Leupold.

Dogleg nailed it. Leupold standard rings and bases suck! Dual dovetail, tally or Burris zrings are much better choices

I just switched both my rifles over to dual dove tail bases and rings. Love them. So much better then the std or the weavers I had been using.
I had issues with the windage screws coming loose all the time no matter how I torqued them (I have a tq wrench and used both the recommended, and the third time it happend a little over recommended) and they still came loose. Got fed up.
