As with most pet projects, after close to a year with my new-to-me Sako 85 Varmint in 6 PPC, I've just gathered all that I need to begin loading up for this rifle.
I've got a small supply of mixed brass which is the following:
- already fire-formed 22PPC, Sako (approx. 100)
- already fire-formed 220 Russian , Lapua (approx. 100)
- new, yet to be fired 6PPC USA, Norma (approx. 50)
- and finally two boxes of new Lapua 220 Russian that I've yet to mangle.
Q1 - I've gone ahead and run a number of the new 220 brass through my Redding 6ppc FL sizer with the help of some Imperial sizing wax - Seems simple enough...Is there any reason not to do the rest like this? ( I've been on 6mmBR.com and don't have a separate fire forming barrel, so some of the suggestions on there are not practical).
Also, while neck sizing some of the once fired, I've noticed the de-capping pins are too large for the flash holes. Is this common? Does Redding make a special de-capping pin to work with this brass?
Q2 - Any tips on blowing the shoulder out for fire- forming? Anything to avoid?
Q3 - Let's hear some favorite recipes for this cartridge!
Cheers!
