Hey guys I'm still new to the black rifle world but I love it. Today at the range however was not a good day.

For the background info: I got a norinco m4, it's worked flawlessly! That should have been enough but alas im a sucker for accesories, so I sold the lower kept the upper and installed a blueline lower with a dpms parts kit and an ace Socom m4 stock with a carbine buffer and carbine buffer spring. Then I got a couple pmags.

The problem I had at the range was when I inserted a kayaks chambered the first round the bold would not go all the way forward, so I would hear the click but no bang when the trigger was pulled. It was then very difficult to pull back on the charging handle and xtract the unfired round. I was not riding the carrier I would pull it all the way back and let it slam home!

My stock norinco mags did not seem to have this problem as much and it was only on the first round chambered, I could see the bolt not all the way forward and a whack on the forward assist would fix the problem, but don't wanna have to do that everytime I put in a fresh mag.

So my question is what could be causing it? Im no expert but im thinking it's the buffer spring is not strong enough, because when I pull back and let it slam forward it does not do it with a lot of force just kinda slides forwRd, not a slam.

Once the first round is chambered correctly all following rounds go off without a problem it is only when a mag is first inserted!

Please help!!!

IMO, it's probably your buffer spring. Try replacing it or loading 28rds into the mag. Also, try more lube.

All that said and done, you're bound to run into problems when you mix and match, Especially when your mixing commie and yank.

If you have the Socom M4 "Exteneded" rifle length stock, you're going to need a rifle buffer and spring, or a 9mm stock spacer to use an A2 stock with carbine parts.

Rifle springs and buffers come up in the EE all the time.

Or you can get a 9mm stock spacer from Brownells:

I got the one where it comes with both tubes the long and the short one, I am ordering a rifle length buffer tube now, love it how brownells stores my credit card info on file, so easy to order stuff I need/don't need

It might help not to insert any more kayaks into your rifle.:D

Haha yea maybe that was the issue, lol posted the thread from my iPhone, it must be liberal and auto corrects words like mags into less scary kayaks

I think problem is solved I've ordered a rifle length buffer spring from brownells, do I need a new buffer? Or will The carbine buffer I have work fine?
