Help with my SIR...

I've built a dozen freakin AR's from the gorund up, and the one that stumps me, is a simple SIR removal . It's an M model, and I can't get the plastic handguard to slide forward and free, it moves a little more than a 1/4"-3/8" easily and freely then just stops. All the lock screws are disengaged as far as I can see... Easy access my buttocks! Anyone else had a sticky SIR? So frustrating, a piece of plastic stands beween me and that barrel collar... But a bloody determined piece.

Grr... Didn't want to bug you again Jeff, I know you're busy But still stuck, tried prying the #1 and #2 rails forward, and tried tapping them forward to get them to lift out, no luck, won't budge. I take it this is done with the plastic handguard in the full aft position?

Those rails come off before you undo the rear two screws to push the bottom plastic forward.

When I had to remove one, it was a ##### just like yours...

its because the 4 screws holding the barrel clamp(SP) have come loose the only way i could get mine off was by forcing it it got a little chipeed but not to much. But because i can not see your s that may not be the problem either.

I suggest a really, really big hammer.

That always works when I have trouble taking things apart.
Once I grab my big hammer, stuff just seems to come apart really easy.

So the #1 and #2 rails need to slide forward slightly, then be lifted out vertically, with the plastic handguard's rear lock screws still engaged? Sorry, such a newb, and jeebus what frustrations from something supposed to be field strippable with a coin...
