OK, here goes. I was looking into the hunting regulations for PEI as I'll be going back this coming summer. Am I correct that I'm not allowed to hunt, or even go out plinking without a licensed guide as I'm not a PEI resident?

I haven't been back in a couple of years now and its been much longer since I did any shooting there, but I know this wasn't a requirement last time I did. I wasn't necessarily going to hunt this time around, but would at least like to get out and shoot some targets.

Thanks!

"Non-resident hunters must be accompanied by either a licensed resident hunter or a registered hunting guide while hunting in Prince Edward Island."
Any of your relatives/old buddies hunt? You'd have to have a non-resident hunting licence anyway. $75.
Hunting and shooting aren't the same thing. Mind you, I don't know if PEI has the same silly policy as Ontario about having a firearm in the bush. Here, you must have a hunting licence and have a firearm that is suitable for whatever game is in season.

If your out in the woods with targets(<-important) and a gun, likely they'll assume your target shooting and not bother you.
Although I doubt anyone would bother you in the first place.

There is a shooting range near Montague.

Thanks for the responses guys. It's much appreciated.

I do still have lots of family who hunt and shoot, but there's a good chance they'll be working most of the time I'm back.

Thanks for the heads up on a range in Montague. I'm not too far from there; family's house is in Lakeside. With some luck though I'll be able to find a good spot in the woods with a backstop and know houses or people around to bring some targets and plink away.

Again, many thanks for the responses!
